Master Sergeant Rikke Rietveld is a Battlefield Forensics Specialist in the Danish Armed Forces and currently serves in a NATO role in Latvia. She is also a PhD researcher at Cranfield University, where her work examines the evolution of battlefield forensics and develops a practical framework to improve collaboration between military, government and civilian forensic capabilities across crisis and conflict. Her research uses Action Research and Grounded Theory, informed by exercises, workshops, interviews and close practitioner engagement.
Rikke’s professional focus is integrating technical exploitation, forensic collection and information management into operational planning and decision-making. She contributes to multinational efforts on interoperability, including how evidence and exploitable material can support intelligence, national security, legal processes and humanitarian outcomes, such as the identification of fallen soldiers and support to war crimes investigations. She leads international stakeholder engagement through the Battlefield Forensics Programme bringing together practitioners, academics and industry to produce practical outputs, including guidance, training concepts and coordination approaches.
