Lecturer
History at Penryn

I work on the intersections between soils, literature and science. My research is in the environmental humanities and focuses on the links between soils and understandings of nature, place and belonging from the beginning of the nineteenth century. After completing my PhD across the English Departments at Cardiff University and the University of Bristol, I worked for the Food, Farming and Countryside Commission for two years, on a project for transitioning to a socially and environmentally just agri-food system. I am a BBC New Generation Thinker and share my research on BBC Radio 3.
