Office hours
During Term 1 (22 Sept. – 12 Dec. 2025)* my Office Hours are: Tuesdays 1330 – 1430, and Thursdays 0930 – 1030.
*There are no drop-in Office Hours during Week 6/Reading Week (beg. 27 Oct.) and Week 12/Assessments Week (beg. 8 Dec.), but I'll be available online and/or in-person at other times.
No appointment needed: please knock when you arrive (Amory A131) so I know you’re waiting.

Senior Lecturer
History
I'm a historian of Modern Ireland, with particular research and teaching interests in violence.
Born and brought up in Manchester, I studied History as an undergraduate and postgraduate at the Queen's College, Oxford, from where I graduated with a DPhil in 2011. During 2012–2014, I held a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Global Irish Studies Centre, UNSW Australia (in Sydney). I started as Lecturer at Exeter in January 2015 and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in December 2019.
