Amber Flood

History
Amber Flood is a third-year collaborative PhD student studying social change in English subscription libraries during the long-nineteenth century. Her work focuses on mechanisms of knowledge exclusion through the lens of class, gender, associational culture, and imperialism. Amber is also interested in the emotions linked to identity defining spaces in the nineteenth century, like libraries and museums.
Thesis title: The Enlightenment Library in an Age of Industrialisation: how Cultural Organisations responded to an Era of Rapid Social Change c. 1750-1914.
