Yury Matthews

Yury Matthews is a zooarchaeology PhD reseacher at the University of Exeter, supervised by Dr Carly Ameen and Prof Alan Outram.

Her research project focuses on the bioarchaeology of equestrianism in Britain, with a focus on the pathology of late medieval horses and the development of contemporary riding and working horses.

Her interest in equine archaeology comes from nearly two decades of equine experience and a curiosity to understand how these animals became the horses we know today.
